Style Watch Presents: Eat Some Humble Pie!

The other day I was perusing through You Tube and I stumbled across this beauty channel owned by a fellow Trini. Girlll, I got so excited ! Why ? Well it is refreshing to see a Trini woman in the You Tube beauty world doing her thing  AND I saw a haul video from her. Gotta love that combination!

Crush worthy beauty haul!

I began watching her video and immediately  I got disappointed. No smile, no humility. All I was hearing was how much she spent and how her boyfriend bought her expensive makeup. I mean really ? No valuable information to really help me as a viewer. Not impressive at all. Her lack of genuineness really stood out to me and inspired me to post this today.

The message I want to bring across is that whatever we set out to do in this life , whether its You Tube videos, blogging , our jobs etc always be humble and stay grounded. It actually reflects in your work/ personality and your viewer can definitely sense it. Too many times in this world especially in the fashion/ beauty industry you come across people with this 'stush' sorta attitude. It is so unattractive and can be intimidating for some people. I mean why do you choose ( yes I said choose) to be so negative when it is sooooo much easier and better for you to be positive and exuding happiness ? A little smile can go a very long way.

I want to give props to the girl though. She is brave enough to sit in front of the camera and share with everyone. It's something I want to do eventually but haven't found the courage as yet, so kudos to her for that.

I know this post/ little rant deviates from the rest of my blog but I felt compelled to share this little experience and advice with everyone. I needed to get it off my chest.

  1. That type of attitude can be such a turn-off, especially on a public platform, but go deeper beneath the surface and ask yourself "Why does she (or anyone) feel the need to 'show off'?'. I always feel people act like that when they want/need validation from their audience -- then I end up feeling a bit sorry for them, ughh!
